Hyaluronic acid: why your skin feels tight, and how to fix it
- Hyaluronic acid (HA) holds water in your skin, so it looks plump and feels comfortable.
- It suits every skin type, including oily skin.
- Apply it on damp skin and seal it with moisturiser.
Why does skin feel tight?
Tightness after washing usually means your skin has lost water. AC offices, hot showers, harsh face washes and winter all make it worse. Hyaluronic acid helps by pulling water into the top layer of skin and holding it there.
The one mistake people make
HA needs water to work. If you put it on completely dry skin in a dry room, it has less to hold on to. So apply it right after washing, while skin is still a little damp, then follow with moisturiser to lock it in.
It works well with almost everything, including vitamin C, niacinamide and retinol.
